Social event on Sunday, August 1st, 2010 at 1.30 pm. The next big get-together is our Summer Garden party, where there will be plenty to eat and drink and as always, good company. Tickets are £12 (£7 concessions and children under 12 are free) And if you're feeling adventurous there will be a treasurehunt before the party organized by Chris Maines. There'll be a yomp through Sydenham, a mad dash around the Horniman, glimpses of Forest Hill, some treasure and then back to Sunderland Road -£3 (£2 for concessions and children free)The Treasurehunt starts at 1:30 and the garden party at 3.

You are very welcome to come along and bring friends along with you.Our guest speakers will be focussing on a very important referendum taking place next May on the Alternative Vote.Anthony Barnet is for many years a leading campaigner for liberty and democracy. He was the founding director of Charter 88, now Unlock Democracy and co-director of the Convention on Modern Liberty. Currently he is co-director of the Take Back Parliament campaign which supports changing the voting system to proportional representation. Currently they are part of the "Yes" campaign for the referendum on the Alternative Vote (AV), which takes place next May. He is a founder of the excellent Open Democracy website, and often writes articles in the OurKingdom sectionBridget Fox was the Lib Dem candidate for Islington South at the last 2 general elections, and turned a safe Labour seat into a marginal in the process. Saturday 7th August – Ross Carnival, to be held at the Ropewalk (down by the Wye).  Help needed to set up (from 11.00am) and run our stall, sell second hand books and tombola tickets etc.  Great fun and a good showcase for us to demonstrate to the public that we are normal and the Tories are not !

Policy discussion on Friday, September 3rd, 2010 at 7.30 pm. Join Chingford and Woodford Green Liberal Democrats for an evening of Pizza and Politics, with guest speaker Dr. Mark Pack. Mark has extensive experience in modern campaigns techniques and online communications, having been Head of Innovations at the Liberal Democrats until June 2009 - during this time Mark helped move the party into the internet age, developing the wide-ranging online presence we now enjoy - he was also Lynne Featherstone's Campaignmanager in 2005, securing a spectacular 16% swing away from Labour to help Lynne get elected. Mark is also co-editor of Liberal Democrat Voice, the most popular Lib Dem blog, and contributes regularly to political discussion on television, in print and online. Always eager to connect the attractive possibilities offered by online campaigning with the doorstep campaigning we're all familiar with, Mark will sharewith us his views on this year's Federal Conference Agenda and the challenges the Party faces in Coalition.The evening will take place on Friday September 3rd, at local party member Prateek Buch's house (87 Chingford Lane, Woodford Green, IG8 9QS), beginning at 7.30pm - there will be a small charge of £6 per head to help cover costs, but of course this includes pizza!. Conference on Saturday, September 18th, 2010-Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at 10.00 am.  We are delighted to be taking autumn conference 2010 to Liverpool, a city which has thrived since earning its European Capital of Culture title in 2008.Conference will open on Saturday 18 September with consultative sessions at 10.00 and the formal opening of conference at 14.20. On Wednesday 22 September, conference will close with the Leader's speech at approximately 15.00.Policy issues under discussion at this conference will include a full debate on papers on Localism, International Development and Youth Justice and consultation sessions on Quality of Life, Volunteering and the Voluntary Sector & Facing the Future. 

Conference Fringe Meeting on Saturday, September 18th, 2010 at 10.00 pm. Join the  Lib Dem Voice team and special guests for the 5th annual Lib Dem Blog of the Year Awards.The awards ceremony (affectionately known as the BOTYs) will be held at the Liberal Democrats' Autumn conference in Liverpool.Nominations for the six awards categories run from late July until the end of August - see the website for more information.
